How it's calculated
- Levels = highest platform height ÷ frame height, rounded up.
- Bays = façade length ÷ cross-brace length, rounded up (mobile tower: 1 bay).
- Modules = levels × bays: one module is one bay of one level.
- Assembled pieces: frames = (bays + 1) × levels (neighboring bays share a frame); braces = 2 × bays × levels.
- Base plates = 2 per ground frame; mobile tower: 4 casters. Platforms = bays × working levels.
- Cost = current per-module rate × periods started × modules, using the cheapest rate for those days.

Divide the highest platform height by the frame height (levels) and the façade length by the cross-brace length (bays), rounding up. Modules = levels × bays. The calculator does it with the module dimensions your advisor assigns.

When must the scaffold be tied to the structure?
When its height exceeds 4 times the base's shorter side, the scaffold must be tied, braced or stabilized (OSHA 29 CFR 1926.451(c)(1)). Your advisor sets the tie points.
Do you rent casters and platforms for the scaffold?
Yes: the set is built for your use — a mobile tower on casters for installations, or a fixed façade setup with work platforms. Ask for a guardrail and toe board on every platform.
