The fleet's backhoes
- Komatsu WB93R 4×4: ~99 HP, extendable dipper, digs to ~5.7 m and loads ~1.0 m³ up front.
- Bobcat B760 4×4: ~100 HP, powershift transmission, extendable dipper on 4 of its 5 units.
- Both rent with or without a certified operator, and both take a hydraulic breaker.

The options: hour, day, week, 15 days or month
- By the hour: the usual format for operated rental — you pay for machine hours. When there's a published hourly rate, the equipment page says whether it includes operator and VAT, and the offer may set a daily hour minimum or a volume discount: it's written in the rate's note.
- By the day: covers 8 machine hours. Good for one-off jobs.
- By the week, 15 days or month: the unit rate drops as the term grows. Worth it when the backhoe works continuously.
- Long term (6 to 24 months): preferred terms and the machine secured for your operation.
The hour meter: how hours are counted
The hour meter is the machine's engine-hour counter. It's read in front of you when the backhoe is delivered and again at pickup: the difference is what it worked. Write it on the delivery record and photograph it — it's the basis for contract hours. If your crew runs double shifts or is racing a deadline, say so when you quote: the pace goes in writing in the proposal and there are no surprises at month-end.
What the rate covers and what's added
- Covered: the machine with preventive and corrective maintenance (a repair doesn't raise your rate), hour and condition monitoring, and on-site technical support; if a fault can't be fixed, a replacement is arranged.
- Added: fuel (you supply it), delivery and pickup freight by distance, the operator if the rate doesn't include one, overtime beyond 8 hours a day, damage beyond normal wear and VAT (Guatemala's published rates already include it).

How a weekly or monthly term is counted
In the site's estimate, weekly, 15-day and monthly rates are counted per started period: if you rent at a weekly rate and the backhoe stays 9 days, that's 2 weeks. That's why it pays to count your days of use carefully before picking the term. Hourly rates are estimated at 8 machine hours per day. The estimate is a reference; your advisor confirms the formal proposal against real availability.
With or without an operator
With a certified RentaCentro operator you pay for machine and operator, and you run the site; bare, your own certified crew runs it. On a backhoe — a skill machine — operated rental is the most requested option for short, intense stages, because the operator is productive from hour one.

How to compare two backhoe quotes
- Same unit: compare hour against hour, or week against week.
- Ask what's included: operator, maintenance, replacement if it fails, VAT.
- Add what's extra: round-trip freight, fuel for your real hours and overtime.
- Check the validity: a rate in an old social-media post may have expired.
- Compare on work done, not just the rate: a 4×4 backhoe that digs and loads saves you a second machine.
Common mistakes
- Comparing an hourly rate against a weekly one without converting to the same unit.
- Not recording or photographing the hour meter at delivery.
- Forgetting round-trip freight and fuel for your real hours.
- Assuming the rate includes an operator.
- Running a day past the weekly period unplanned: the started week is charged.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to rent a backhoe by the hour?
It depends on the country, the term and whether it comes with an operator. When there's a current published offer, the rate appears on the backhoe's page with its validity date, whether it includes operator and VAT, and its conditions (minimums or discounts). Otherwise it's quoted on your location and dates, and an advisor contacts you during business hours.
Is fuel included?
No. Fuel is supplied by the customer; the level at delivery is recorded and the machine is expected back at the same level.
What if the backhoe works more than 8 hours in a day?
The daily rate covers 8 machine hours; anything the hour meter shows beyond that is billed as overtime. If you'll run double shifts, say so when you quote and it goes in writing in the proposal.
What if the backhoe breaks down?
Preventive and corrective maintenance is on us: we service it on site and, if the fault can't be fixed, we arrange a replacement.
Can it take a breaker?
Yes: the fleet's hydraulic breakers mount on the backhoe. Ask for it in the same quote so it arrives with the hydraulics and coupler ready.
